Charge sheet against KCC Mayor in bribery case

KHULNA, Dec 15: Police today (Saturday) submitted to the court charge sheet against Sheikh Tayebur Rahman, mayor of Khulna, and its public relation officer Sarder Abu Taher in a bribery case. Hafizur Rahman, an employee of KCC, filed the case accusing them of taking Tk 0.29 million from him in November last year with promise of promotion. But ultimately he was temporarily dismissed from the job. Facing more than half a dozen criminal cases Tayebur was arrested from Gulshan in Dhaka on November 2 last year and is now in Jessore jail. His co-accused Abu Taher remained fugitive since the filing of the case. — UNB
