Charge-sheet filed against Anee in corruption case

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has submitted a charge-sheet against BNP’s Student Affairs Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee for allegedly accumulating wealth illegally. ACC Deputy Director Mahbubul Alam submitted the charge-sheet against the BNP leader to the GR (General Registration) branch of the commission on Sunday. On June 18, the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) approved charges against the BNP`s Student Affairs Secretary in connection with the allegation of acquiring wealth illegally. The ACC in a meeting, approved the charge-sheet for amassing illegal wealth worth nearly Tk15 million (1.5 crore). Earlier, an ACC official had said that during an ACC investigation, it was found that illegal wealth worth nearly Tk15m was amassed by Anee and his family members. On October 9, 2014, ACC deputy director Monjur Morshed filed a case against Anee for attaining illegal wealth. The case statement said the probe found wealth worth nearly Tk15m which Annie amassed beyond his known sources of income, according to a news agency.
