Tuesday, 12 January 2010

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will draw up charge sheet against 2,000 BDR personnel and some civilians by the end of this month implicating them in the brutal killings during the February 25-26 BDR carnage at Pilkhana last year, official sources said in the city Monday, reports BSS.
"We are almost at the fag end of the probe into the carnage after 11 months of investigation and hopeful of submitting the charge sheets within this month after necessary scrutiny of all findings," Mir Shahidul Islam, Special Superintendent (SS) of the CID police, told the news agency.
Over 2,000 BDR members and 34 civilians, including former BNP MP Nasir Uddin Ahmed Pintu are being charged for the massacre in which 73 people, including 57 military officers, were brutally killed at Pilkhana, he said.
A senior official of the CID told the agency that they had so far arrested 2,182 persons, including 34 civilians, on charge of their involvement in the carnage. Of the arrested, 2,181 detainees, including 2,149 BDR men, were interrogated after taking them on remand.
