Charges against Oishi, 3 others accepted

A Dhaka court on Tuesday took into cognizance the charges against Oishi Rahman for murdering her parents. The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court sent the case to the Metropolitan Session Judge’s Court after accepting the charge-sheet as it is ready for trial. On March 9, Detective Branch of (DB) of police pressed two separate charge sheets indicting Oishi Rahman for killing her police officer father and mother and three other people for assisting and instigating in the murder. Investigation officer (IO) of the case and DB Inspector Abul Khair Matubber submitted the charge sheets before the CMM Court. The IO in his charge sheet claimed that Oishi with the help of three others killed her father Mahfuzur Rahman, the Special Branch Inspector, and his wife Swapna Rahman seven months ago. Police recovered the body of Special Branch Inspector Mahfuz and his wife Swapna from their Chamelibagh flat in the city on August 16 last year. Oishi was charged for killing her parents, while her friends Asaduzzaman, alias Jony for instigation and Mizanur Rahman, alias Rony providing shelter, in a charge sheet as their involvement were proved by evidence, DB Inspector Khair said. “Housemaid Khadija Khatun Sumi was named in another charge sheet as her age is under 18 and (Sumi) will be tried in the juvenile court,” he said, adding that Sumi was not directly involved with murder but had aided Oishi, according to a news agency.
