Charges brought against 35 BDR jawans in Bandarban

BANDARBAN, Apr 22 (UNB): Charges were brought against 35 BDR jawnas of Balipara 10 Rifles Battalion in BDR mutiny case and Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) special court fixed April 24 for hearing of the charges.
The trial began at BDR special court-4 at Baitul Ijjat Rifles Training Centre at Satkania Upazila in Chittagong in the morning.
Subedar major of 10 Rifles Battalion Sultan Ahmed placed charges against the 35 BDR jawans. Some 110 BDR jawans of Bolipara 10 Rifles Battalion were arrested earlier.
The court, headed by outgoing BDR Director General Maj Gen Mainul Islam, took the charges into cognisance and asked the prosecution to produce all the jawans before it on April 24.
However, the accused were not produced before the court Thursday. Jawans of Balipara 10 Rifles Battalion under Thansi Upazila expressed their solidarity with the mutiny staged by their colleagues in Pilkhana BDR headquarters on February 25-26 last year.
