Special Court-8 Monday fixed January 4 for taking depositions as it framed charges against 187 alleged BDR mutineers of Signal Sector in connection with the BDR mutiny at the BDR headquarters, reports UNB.
The court, set up at the Darbar Hall of Pilkhana BDR headquarters, began proceedings at about 9:00am and continued until 1:00pm.
All of the accused were produced before the three-member special court-8, led by BDR Deputy Director General Obaidul Haque.
During the proceedings, the court read out charges against 137 mutineers simultaneously.
Earlier on Sunday, the same court read out charges against 50 mutineers as Prosecutor Ahsan Habib prayed to the special court to frame charges against the accused.
After completion of reading out charges, the court wanted to know from all of the accused whether they were guilty or not. In reply only Lance Nayek Eman Ali admitted his guilt while the remaining BDR jawans claimed themselves innocent.
After hearing, the court was adjourned until 9:00am on January 4 next year.
Two other members of the court are Lt Col Sirajul Haque and Maj Zahidur Rahman. Deputy Attorney General Boshaw Dev assisted the court as the representative of Attorney General.
On May 6, Subedor Mohammad Neyamot Ullah brought allegations against 187 BDR members under the Signal Sector before the special court-6. Later, the trial was postponed to the reconstituted special court-8.
At least 73 people, including 57 army officers deputed to the BDR, were killed at the Pilkhana Headquarters on February 25-26, 2009.
