Charges framed against Babar in arms case

A special court Wednesday framed charges against the former Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) state minister Lutfozzaman Babar in an arms case, reports bdnews24.com.
The court set July 31 for the next hearing in the case.
Judge Syed Zahed Mansur of the Dhaka Metropolitan Special Court-9 framed the charge.
The hearing of charge framing took place on July 22.
Babar was brought from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University prison cell and produced before the court at 11:45 am.
Babar's lawyer Sanaullah Mian appealed to the court for his bail which was denied.
The former state minister then pleaded not guilty of the charges.
Joint forces arrested him from his Gulshan home on May 28. On June 3, sub-inspector (SI) Helaluddin of Gulshan Police Station filed a case against him under the Arms Act.
On June 24, SI Khabir Ahmed of the same police station pressed charges against Babar in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court for Dhaka.
