Charges pressed against nine including Izaharul, son over Ctg bomb explosion

Police have pressed charges against nine people including Mufti Izaharul Islam and his son Mufti Harun Bin Izahar in three cases filed over a bomb explosion at a madrasa in Chittagong. Investigation Officer (IO) and Khuslhi Police Station SI Lokman Hossain submitted the chargesheets at the Chittagong Metropolitan Court on Monday. On Oct 7 last year, an explosion ripped through the second floor of a dormitory at the Jamayetul-Ulum-Al Islamia Madrasa, run by Hifazat-e Islam leader Mufti Izahar. Five students were injured -- three of whom died later while under treatment. Police had lodged the three cases – two under Explosives Act and the other for murder. SI Hossain told bdnews24.com that apart from Mufti Izahar and his son Harun, the other charged in the case include madrasa’s employee Munir Hossain, teachers Tafsir Ahmed and Abdul Mannan, students Habibur Rahman, Abdul Hai alias Salman, Md Junaid and Md Ishaq. He said he handed over the chargesheet to the Khushi Police Station General Recording Officer (GRO) at the court on Monday morning. All the accused are now in jail except Izahar, according to a news agency.
