DoE seizes three tonnes of polythene

CHATTOGRAM, June 30 (BSS): Chattogram district administration in a drive on Sunday demolished four illegal establishments, including shops erected on three acres of railway land, from Fuzdarhat area under Sitakundaupazila of the district.
Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner land of Sitakunda upazila Mahmudul Hoque along with police personnel conducted the drive and demolished different kinds of semi pukka shops from Fuzdarhat area under Sitakunda upazila of the district.
The illegal slums built on the land of Bangladesh Railway that gradually turned into business point in Fuzdarhat area under Sitakunda upazila, said Mahmudul Hoque.
Another report adds: The Directorate of Environment (DoE) in Chattogram recovered three tonnes of banned polythene after conducting a drive at a polythene godown at city's Reazuddin Bazar area on Sunday.
None of the owners or employees was present during the drive.
On receiving information that one Faruk, owner of a godown has been secretly stocking polythene in the city for the last three months. A DoE team conducted the drive along with other high officials and recovered three tonnes of polythene, Sangukta Das, Assistant Director of DoE told the news agency.
DoE also summoned the godown owner Faruk to attend before the hearing in its office on 1st July.
