Check price hike during Ramadan

Saturday, 2 March 2024

Controlling prices of essential commodities remains an elusive goal despite the government's hectic effort to manage the market. During Ramadan, there is typically a surge in the price of goods that are consumed during the fasting period, such as sugar, onions, green chilies, potatoes, soybeans, dates, and so on.
There is no denying that the majority of the volatility in commodity prices can be attributed to greedy and dishonest syndicate traders.
It is imperative that the authorities acted proactively to maintain the cost of basic goods at a reasonable level during Ramadan. This will help alleviate the financial burden on individuals and ensure that everyone can observe the holy month without facing undue economic hardship.
