Cheques distributed among indigenous students

FARIDPUR, May 3 (BSS): Overseas Employment and Expatriate Welfare Minister Engineer Khondoker Mosharraf Hossain today said the present government is working to improve the living standards of the people in backward areas by providing them all kinds of facilities and assistances.
The minister was distributing cheques among the meritorious students belonging to Dalit, Harijan and Gypsy communities of Sadar upazila at a function in Kabi Jasimuddin hall auditorium here.
The function organised by Faridpur Sadar upazila parishad was chaired by Upazila chairman Khondoker Mohtesham Hossain Babor.
Mosharraf said the present government does not differentiate between any caste or creed rather as a citizen of this country everyone has the right to enjoy equal benefits and opportunities.
The government's job is to ensure wellbeing of the people and improve their standard of living, he added.
Cheques for Tk 4,15,800 were distributed among 74 students belonging to the indigenous community of Sadar upazila. The minister also distributed fishing nets along with ID cards to the fishermen of the area.
