Chevron employees donate blood

Wednesday, 16 June 2010

A blood donation programme was jointly organised by Chevron Bangladesh Block Twelve Ltd and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society at Chevron Office premises to commemorate the World Blood Donors' Day recently.
Chevron Director Operations Ryder T Booth formally inaugurated the blood donation programme, said a press release.
Mr Booth said Chevron always values integrating corporate responsibility into its business. Chevron and its employees actively participate in community initiatives worldwide. As a part of that, Chevron has been supporting the noble cause of donating blood.
He further said that the Neemtoli fire incident was a colossal loss and expressed his hope that this small endeavor initiated by Chevron employees would help those in need of blood.
A total of 50 bags of blood were collected from Dhaka office from this drive. Blood donation programmes are also to be held at Chevron's Jalalabad gas field, Bibiyana gas field and Moulavi Bazar gas field during June 2010.
Every year, employees of Chevron voluntarily donate blood in an attempt to fulfill the urgent demand for safe blood in Bangladesh. This year's event witnessed an overwhelming response from its employees, who took time out from their busy workday to take part in the blood donation.
Chevron's Dhaka Medical team worked closely with the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society to ensure the safe, smooth and successful completion of the programme.
Chevron was recognized as the third-highest blood donor by the Red Crescent Society in 2009 among all corporate bodies.
