Chevron (Bangladesh) has provided Kalachara Catholic Primary School of Moulavi Bazar with furniture.

The school is located in the vicinity of the Chatali Tea Garden in the greater Kalachara area.

Buffie Wilson, wife of Chevron Bangladesh President Steve Wilson, officially handed over the furniture to the school authority at a simple ceremony recently, said a press release.

The furniture includes 22 sets of desks and chairs, along with a teacher's chair and table.

Speaking on the occasion, Wilson said, "I feel proud that I am here today on this occasion. This is a wonderful initiative taken by Chevron and I hope the school children will enjoy studying in their classrooms with the new furniture."

Father Palma expressed his gratitude to Chevron for its continued support and spoke about the need for similar assistance in future as well.

In 2005, Chevron supported the extension of the school premises, with the construction of a veranda, a restroom and two tube-wells for the convenience of the students, the release added.

Among others, Chevron's Moulavi Bazar Gas Plant Superintendent Pravit Visessiri, Assistant Manager of Mazdihi Tea Estate Masaduzzaman Sheikh, Father Atul Palma of Srimangal Catholic Church, Headmaster of the school Bikash Sharma and Chevron's Assistant Community Relations Officer Imam Hussain Chowdhury were present at the handing over ceremony.
