Chevron observes global road safety week

The vehicle drivers of Chevron Bangladesh drove ten million kilometers without any serious motor crash, said a press release.
The achievement was felicitated during the observation of the Global Road Safety Week 2009 from November 9 to November 14.
To mark the week, two separate events were held at Inathganj in Habiganj district and Srimangal in Moulvibazar district with the message- "We will keep our own roads safe". The programme was participated by local drivers, and school students and teachers from the community.
The week is designed to raise awareness among employees, contractors and neighbouring communities on the road safety issues.
Chevron Moulavibazar Gas Plant Superintendent Choudhury H Rumel, Fleet Manager of Transport and Admin Shahirul Islam, Officer in Transport and Administration Shahriar Abedin, Kalapur UP Chairman Abdul Hai, prominent journalist Gopal Dev Chowdhury attended the Srimangal programme among others.
A similar programme was held at Habiganj district with the participation of Bibiyana Gas Plant GPS John Wesley Rossum and former chairman of Inathganj UP Khaled Ahmed Pathan.
The chief guest of the programme was Greg Cassinerio, Manager, Supply Chain Management, who spoke about the necessity of safety in driving. Khaled Ahmed Pathan expressed his appreciation to Chevron for organizing events on a regular basis to raise awareness in road safety.
Chevron has provided training for 160 public transport drivers in Bibiyana area to improve road safety. Additionally, Chevron erected billboards and distributed t-shirts and caps among the community with safety messages.
