Chevron support for Jalalabad Eye Hospital

Chevron Bangladesh has donated a phacoemulsifier and a slit-lamp machine to Jalalabad Eye Hospital for better treatment of the patients, according to a press release.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith attended the function as the chief guest and received the gifts from Operations Director of Chevron Bangladesh T Ryder Booth at a ceremony held on the hospital premises Friday.
External Affairs Director of Chevron Bangladesh Naser Ahmed was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Muhith said : "Jalalabad Eye Hospital has been tirelessly treating the underprivileged patients of the Sylhet area for quite some time now. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chevron Bangladesh for supporting this noble cause. Its initiative will equip the hospital to take several strides forward with regards to the standard of care it provides to its patients.''
"Chevron has created a wonderful example in the arena of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Bangladesh-one which should be replicated by other corporate organisations as well, " he added.
Mr Booth, in his speech, said, "Chevron is honoured to be able to support Jalalabad Eye Hospital. I hope that this equipment will play an important role in the more effective treatment of patients who cannot afford it."
Vice-president of Jalalabad Blind Welfare Association Dr MA Rahim Choudhury and Additional District Commissioner Ahmed Shamim Al-Razi were present on the occasion..
