Chevron workers press for payment before Eid

Chevron Bangladesh Ltd Sramik Karmachari Union on Sunday demanded payment of arrears before Eid-ul-Fitr.
The demand came from a token hunger strike program in front of Jatiya Press Club, a news agency report said.
Chevron Bangladesh Sramik Karmachari Union President Saiful Islam, general secretary Rahmatullah Bhuiyan spoke on the occasion.
Union President Saiful Islam said the sacked workers of the company have been living an inhuman life as authorities did not pay their salaries and other dues.
He also alleged owners sacked some of their workers without prior warning and paying their dues.
General Secretary Rahmatullah Bhuiyan said when the countrymen are going to celebrate Eid they took to the streets demanding their arrears.
He also demanded reinstatement of all the sacked employees immediately.
Speakers also said if their arrears are not paid before Eid and their demand is not fulfilled they will wage tougher movement after Eid-ul-Fitr vacation.
