Chevron's alternative livelihood programme steps into third year

Chevron Bangladesh observed recently the third anniversary of its Alternative Livelihood Programme, which is a skill development and income generation project for neighbouring community of Bibiyana and Moulavi Bazar gas fields.
Chevron Bangladesh President Steve Wilson handed over a cheque to Executive Director Zahin Ahmed of FIVDB, Chevron's partner NGO, at a simple ceremony at the oil giant's Dhaka office Sunday.
FIVDB Research Associate Faisal Khalek, Chevron Director of External Affairs Naser Ahmed and Community Relations Manager Obaidullah Al Ejaz also attended the ceremony.
Chevron Bangladesh's Alternative Livelihood Program (ALP) is a combination of skilled training and business input support, said a press release.
ALP plans to help 4700 families work toward earning alternative sources of income through training programs and successful startups.
From 2006 till present, Chevron has granted around Tk 19.7 million (1.97 crore) to fund the programme.
