Chhatra League calls RU strike

The Rajshahi University unit of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has called an indefinite strike, demanding the arrest and punishment of the killers of Chhatra League leader Rustam Ali, according to a news agency.
The university unit BCL General Secretary Towhid Al Tuhin told reporters Friday that the strike would last till the assassins were arrested and put on trial.
The agitated union leaders have also demanded the hastening of Chhatra League activist Faruk’s murder case.
“We also demand that the arrest of leaders and activists of the Islami Chhatra Shibir involved in the cutting the tendons of the Chhatra League leaders,” he said.
Rustam Ali Akanda, Joint Secretary of the Suhrawardi Hall BCL unit committee, was shot dead in the university hostel around Friday.
He was a third-year student of the political science department. He is from Sadhanpur village of Sundarganj Upazila in Gaibandha district.
