Thursday, 4 January 2024

The 76th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling Awami League, would be celebrated across the country through various programmes today (Thursday), reports BSS.
The student organisation came into being on January 4 in 1948 at the instruction of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman aiming to achieve the freedom of Bangladesh and its people.
The central council of Chhatra League has taken day-long elaborate programmes across the country marking its 76th founding anniversary with the theme 'Smart Bangladesh, Unnoyan Drishyoman, Barbey Kormo Sangsthan'.
To mark the day, national and party flags will be hoisted at the organisation's central office at 6 am and tribute would be paid at the portrait of the Father of the Nation in front of Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi in the capital at 7.30 am. The programme also includes paying homage to Bangabandhu by placing wreath at his mausoleum in Tungipara at 7.45 am and cutting cake at Curzon Hall on the Dhaka University (DU) campus at 8 am.
