Chhayanaut welcomes Batamul judgment

Cultural organisation Chhayanaut has welcomed the verdict of the 2001 Ramna Batamul bomb attack on a Bengali New Year celebration that had left a dozen people dead. Eight of the accused have been sentenced to death and six given life term by a Dhaka court on Monday in connection with the incident. Chhayanaut held a press conference at its Dhanmondi premise after the verdict. President of the organisation Sanjida Khatun said, ‘We are happy that we’ve got a verdict after a long wait.’ Chhayanaut was the main organiser of the Pahela Baishakh (New Year) celebration that had come under attack, according to bdnews24.com.
