Chidambaram blames 'savage' Maoist massacre

Wednesday, 7 April 2010

NEW DELHI, Apr 6 (AFP): Indian Home Minister P Chidambaram condemned Tuesday the 'savage' massacre of at least 55 paramilitary police by Maoist rebels who walked into a 'trap' in central India.
"This shows the savage nature of the Maoists -- the brutality and savagery which they are capable of," Chidambaram told reporters in New Delhi.
The minister said the police patrol had clearly walked into a carefully prepared ambush by the left-wing rebels in the state of Chhattisgarh.
