Chief Adviser for increasing Bangladesh-Bhutan trade

Chief Adviser (CA) Fakhruddin Ahmed Sunday called for making all out efforts to increase existing trade volume between Bangladesh and Bhutan for the mutual benefit, reports BSS.
Tremendous potential of raising bilateral trade between the two countries existed and it should be explored properly, he added.
The CA said this when newly-appointed ambassador of Bhutan Tshering Dorji paid a courtesy call on him at his office in the city.
Congratulating the new envoy Fakhruddin Ahmed expressed the hope that Bangladesh-Bhutan ties would be strengthened further during his tenure as Dhaka attaches great importance to its relations with Bhutan.
They discussed various trade issues including Bhutanese hydropower project and its possibility of utilisation for mutual benefit.
Emphasising people to people exchange between the two countries, the CA appreciated introduction of Gross National Happiness (GNH), a Bhutanese way of measuring comfort of its own people.
He conveyed his best regards to the King of Bhutan and appreciated the country's journey towards democracy.
Tshering Dorji lauded the reforms steps undertaken by the caretaker government (CG), drive against corruption and steps to establish good governance.
Pointing to his past experience of work with Dhaka, he said best efforts would be made to strengthen bilateral relations and increasing trade.
Secretary to the CA office Kazi M Aminul Islam, Press Secretary Syed Fahim Munaim and high officials were present.
