NILPHAMARI, Dec 24: Rail route in the west zone's Parbotipur-Chilahati section will be revitalised and modernised soon. Then, all inter city trains in the Parbotipur-Chilahati rail route will be able to ply at Chilahati end within a year or so.
The different railway structures and installations in this section will also be modernised. This modernisation would pave the way to reopen the rail route to Haldibari in India.
This was disclosed recently by Director General (DG) of Bangladesh Railway Belayet Hossain at Nilphamari rail station.
At present inter city trains are plying from Saidpur depriving the people of Nilphamari and Panchagarh districts.
It may be mentioned that people of the region had been demanding modernisation of the route and introduction of inter-city trains for a long time.
