Child beggar free Dhaka!
Saturday, 28 March 2009
A report, titled "Begging business using children is run by a criminal group" was published in a national daily on March 17, 2009. A group of criminals are reportedly using children in well-arranged begging business in Dhaka city, though it is a punishable crime. Sometimes they burn a child's body with a hot iron. They beg money showing the extensive openness of the wound for treatment. And at times, they buy new born babies from the slums or from the footpaths. They are used for begging, showing their sufferings and helplessness.
On the same day the, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stated at a function in the capital city as the chief guest that her government would establish the children's rights on the occasion of the "89 the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and national child rights day."
We would like to draw the attention of the government and the NGOs to work closely and so that we could see child beggar-free Dhaka City immediately and the next year beggar-free Bangladesh!
