Child dies in Moghbazar fire

A child has been burnt to death in a fire that broke out at Mirerbagh in Dhaka's Moghbazar area on Saturday. The fire started around 8:15am at a rickshaw garage in Modhubagh, adjacent to Hatirjheel area, Fire Service official Mohammad Ali told bdnews24.com. The fire quickly spread to a slum near the garage and the child was engulfed by the flames, Ramna Police Station OC Moshiur Rahman told the online news agency. At least 25-30 houses in the slum were gutted, Rahman said. The child’s dead body was found in one of them. He, however, was unable to provide much details. Meanwhile, Mohammad Ali said eight fire-fighting units were deployed to control the fire. But he said the source of the fire and amount of total damage were yet to be ascertained.
