Child killed in city, stepmother arrested

A girl child was brutally tortured to death early Friday and later her body was kept inside a drum in the bathroom of a house in the city's Dhalpur area, reports BSS.
The deceased was identified as Maimuna (6), daughter of Abdur Razzak, who stayed with her stepmother and father on the 3rd floor of the house no 94/11, Dhalpur under Jatrabrai thana.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jatrabari thanaAbani Shankar Kar told the news agency that they recovered the body of Maimuna from a drum inside a bathroom.
"The baby's left hand was broken and legs bore severe injury marks. After the recovery of the body at 5:00 am, it was sent for autopsy," he said.
Police arrested deceased stepmother as supreme suspect killer of the girl.
