Child murdered after \\\'rape\\\' in city

A 10-year old girl has been raped before being strangled to death in Old Dhaka. Chawkbazar Police Station’s OC Azizul Haq said the incident took place around Friday midnight on the Islambagh Beribadh. Moni Akter was raped and dumped near the barrage, he said. The victim’s family lives in Islambagh Beribadh area. Her father is a boatman by profession. Locals rushed her to Mitford Hospital but doctors declared her dead on arrival. Dr Sahdeb Raj Bongshi said that the child had dark mark on her neck due to possible strangling and her private part was stained with blood. He believes the child was raped and killed. ‘However, a post-mortem examination will make things clear,’ he added. No case has been filed over the incident until Saturday morning, Chawkbazar police said, according to bdnews24.com.
