Friday, 19 December 2014
The season’s first mild cold wave has spread across northern Bangladesh with the mercury dipping below ten degrees Celsius in some districts.
The lowest, 9.6 degrees Celsius, was recorded in Dinajpur Friday morning. On Thursday, it was Chudanga with 8.4 degrees Celsius.
Syedpur and Dinajpur will continue to be chilly as the mild cold wave was expected to persist for some time, the Met Office said.
Dense fog may affect visibility on rivers from midnight to morning, while light to medium fog is forecast for other places.
Temperatures are expected to remain unchanged throughout Friday.
One or two mild cold waves (8-10 degrees Celsius) may sweep over north, north-east, west and central Bangladesh at the end of December.
Temperatures are expected to fall further in the same regions in January with one or two medium cold wave (6-8 degrees Celsius) followed by a stronger cold spell (4-6 degrees Celsius).
Two to three mild or medium cold waves are forecast for the rest of the regions in January, according to a news agency.
