Tuesday, 19 June 2007

BEIJING, June 18 (AFP): Chinese airlines are preparing to raise ticket prices by up to 30 per cent during the summer high travel season that begins on July 1, state press reported today.
Several Chinese airlines will also limit discounts to no more than 20 per cent off listed prices, down from currently up to 55 per cent off, the Beijing Daily Messenger reported.
Passenger traffic on Chinese airlines is forecast to rise 16 per cent to 185 million in 2007 helped by a boom in tourism, state media said this month citing the civil aviation authority.
The rise is to be driven by steady growth in domestic tourists, seen to be rising eight per cent year on year, a report said, citing the General Administration of Civil Aviation.
