China committed to addresing global climate change

The Chinese government is committed to making all efforts and contribution to address the global issue of climate change, reports UNB.
A press release of the Chinese Embassy in city Tuesday said the UNFCC and the Kyoto Protocol are the core framework and the most efficient mechanism in the global cooperative drive against climate change.
It said the principles and modes that had been stipulated should be steadfastly followed. Therefore, dialogue on the long-term cooperation should be promoted while the negotiation on the further GHG emissions reduction targets for the developed countries after 2012 should be continued leading to the agreement by 2009.
China said confrontation with climate change is a component of the sustainable development and coordination and mutual promotion should be maintained in sharing the identical goals and paths.
For the developing countries, it said, economic development and poverty eradication are the overwhelming priority issues among the agenda and they should mitigate the growth of GHG emissions within its utmost capacity while pursuing for economic growth.
To adapt to the negative impact of climate change is also conducive to realising the sustainable development.
The release said technology plays an indispensably decisive role in mitigating and adapting to climate change. The global cooperation in technology research, development and renovation should be strengthened and the existing technology should be increasingly expanded and utilised.
It said the stipulations regarding the technology transfer of the UNFCC should be fulfilled the earliest and the relevant efficient mechanism should be established.
