China firm keen to set up power plant

Chinese state-run China National Complete Plant Import and Export (Group) Ltd has expressed its interest to set up a coal-based power plant having capacity of 1,000 MW in Bangladesh. Company President Gu Haito expressed the keenness to set up the power plant on government-to-government basis when he met Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal at his office on Monday, said a press release of the ministry. During the meeting, Gu Haito said apart from setting up the power plant, they are also eager to establish fertiliser factories in Bangladesh, according to a news agency.
