FE REPORT
The health ministry on Tuesday received a fresh consignment of emergency anti-dengue medical supplies, including testing kits, from the Chinese embassy in Dhaka.
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen handed over the medical supplies to Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque at a ceremony at the Secretariat.
Health Services Division Secretary Md Jahangir Alam, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services Prof Dr ABM Khurshid Alam and officials of the Embassy of China in Dhaka were present at the event, says a media release.
The supplies came amid a growing demand for anti-dengue emergencies like testing kits as the viral fever has spread across the country at its worst since 2000.
Bangladesh urgently requires additional medical equipment, MSR and logistics to combat the dengue situation.
The Chinese embassy delivered the supplies upon the request made by the government. The Chinese ambassador handed over a portion of the abovementioned medical equipment and MSR to the minister as grant support. Some remaining supplies will land in Bangladesh soon, it added.
