China sets renewable energy targets for aluminum production

BEIJING, Aug 2 (Reuters): China's state planner has set targets for the use of renewable energy for aluminium production, it said in a statement on Friday.
Shandong province, China's biggest aluminium producer, has been set a target for renewables to account for 21 per cent of the energy used to produce the metal.
Inner Mongolia and Yunnan province, which are also large aluminium producers, have been set targets of 29 per cent and 70 per cent respectively.
