China shares advance

Chinese stocks were slightly higher in morning trade on Thursday ahead of the release of July manufacturing data, dealers said. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.28 per cent, or 5.81 points, to 2,084.30 points. The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, edged up 0.04 per cent, or 0.39 points, to 1,103.12, according to AFP.
