China shares edge down

Chinese shares edged down in morning trade on Friday as the market awaited the weekend release of trade figures for May, dealers said. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged down 0.02 per cent, or 0.34 points, to 2,040.54. However, the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, rose 0.05 per cent, or 0.56 points, to 1,058.86, according to AFP.
