China shares lower in morning trade

Chinese shares were lower on Wednesday morning as investors awaited the release of economic figures, dealers said. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.17 per cent, or 3.41 points, to 2,031.16. The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, slipped 0.13 per cent, or 1.38 points, to 1,047.43, according to AFP.
