China shares open flat

Chinese stocks were flat at the opening on Wednesday, a day after a slew of economic data raised worries over the weak economy, dealers said. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.08 per cent, or 1.65 points, to 2,049.08. The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, edged up 0.04 per cent, or 0.41 points, to 1,039.80, according to AFP.
