China shares up in morning trade

Chinese shares were higher in morning trade on Monday on expectations that the government’s plans for greater urbanisation would boost the economy, dealers said. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.14 percent, or 2.83 points, to 2,007.17. The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, edged up 0.13 percent, or 1.43 points, to 1,075.62, according to AFP.
