China stocks mixed in morning trade

Chinese shares were mixed in morning trade on Thursday as the market awaited the release of manufacturing data, dealers said. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.19 per cent, or 3.92 points, to 2,021.03. The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, edged up 0.06 per cent, or 0.57 points, to 1,028.57. British bank HSBC will announce its preliminary purchasing managers' index for May later in the day, according to AFP.
