China's renewable energy to involve $80b each year

BEIJING, Aug 16 (CEIS): China's renewable energy has entered a fast development period from complementary energy to alternative energy, said Shi Dinghuan, Chairman of Chinese Renewable Energy Association.
The country used 200 million tons of standard coals equivalent renewable energy in 2006, accounting for eight per cent of the consumption of primary energy, 0.5 per centage points higher than in 2005.
China's renewable energy industries include small hydropower plant, wind power, bio-energy and geothermal energy. The installed capacity of wind power in 2006 exceeded the total over the past 20 years; that of small hydropower plants surpassed that of large hydropower plants.
