China\\\'s shares slide

Chinese shares were flat in the first few minutes of trade on Tuesday following a heavy sell-off on Wall Street. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dipped 1.62 points to 2,057.21. The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, fell 0.43 per cent, or 4.64 points, to 1,063.43. China's financial markets were closed for a public holiday on Monday, according to AFP.
