Chinese co eyes Jamuna tunnel

After the signing of a deal on Karnaphuli Tunnel, another Chinese firm on Friday expressed its interest to build a tunnel under the Jamuna River. The company - Zhejiang Construction Investment Group Co Limited - wants to take up the project under G2G (government-to-government) initiative. The Chinese company conveyed its interest to Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, who is now visiting Hong Kong. The minister responded positively to the interest, and asked the Chinese company to place a proposal following the existing rules. — UNB
