Chinese co to invest $8m in Mongla EPZ

M/s HM Zipper (BD) Company Limited, a Chinese company, is going to establish a zipper manufacturing industry involving US$8.0 million in Mongla Export Processing Zone (EPZ).
In this connection, an agreement was signed between Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and M/s HM Zipper (BD) in the city on Monday, said a press release.
Member (Investment Promotion) of the BEPZA Sayed Nurul Islam and Managing Director of HM Zipper (BD) Zha Kaili signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.
The 100 per cent foreign-owned company will annually produce 3480 tonnes of zipper, 2850 tonnes of polyester sewing thread and 1900 tonnes of embroidery thread.
The company will also create employment opportunity for 720 Bangladeshi nationals. These accessories will be used specially for luggage and bags.
Among others, Executive Chairman of the BEPZA Major General Mohd Habibur Rahman Khan, ndc, psc, was present at the deal signing ceremony.
