Chittagong rail links resume

Friday, 28 March 2014

Chittagong’s rail links with capital Dhaka and Sylhet have been restored after three hours of suspension following derailment of a train in Comilla. Railway officials say a compartment of Chittagong-bound Jalalabad Express had gone off the track at Bizupur at around 10am on Friday. No-one was reportedly injured in the accident. Services resumed at around 1pm after a relief train from Laksham pulled on track the derailed compartment. Officials, however, could not immediately ascertain the cause of the accident, according to a news agency.
