Chittagong's rail links with rest of the country have been snapped after a bridge subsided following heavy rains. The bridge adjacent to Bhatiari rail station along the Dhaka-Chittagong route subsided on Sunday, a railway official said. ’Train services have been suspended as the bridge was damaged due to flash flood,’ said Abdul Hye, chief engineer of Bangladesh Railway east zone. Two Chittagong-bound trains have been stranded due to the suspension of rail services, according to inquiry section of Chittagong railway. Railway official Hye said heavy rain was disrupting repair work. He hoped the services would resume as soon as possible. The bridge was damaged last year too due to a similar reason, according to bdnews24.com.
