Chittagong's rail communication with rest parts of the country was restored on Tuesday after 6 hours of halt following derailment of a train in Barabkunda under Sitakunda Upazila of the district that killed one. The rail communications of Chittagong with Dhaka, Sylhet and other parts of the country was snapped in the morning when a Chittagong-bound passenger train from Mymensingh rammed a covered-van (lorry) in Barabkunda level crossing leaving the helper of the lorry dead. However, inter-city ‘Subarna Express’ and ‘Mahanagar Prabhati’ left Chittagong railway station for Dhaka around 11:00am. Chittagong railway station manager Abul Kalam Azad said a relief train reached Barabkunda from the port city around 7am and the rescuers restored rail communication in the important route by clearing the obstacles from the railway tracks, according to a news agency.
