Chokoria road crash death toll rises to four

The death toll from bus-microbus collision in Chokoria Upazila in Cox’s Bazar district rose to four as another injured person died at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) early Thursday. At least 10 other people were injured in the accident that took place around 5pm on Wednesday on Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar Highway in Golarmara area. All the deceased are microbus passengers, Harbang highway police outpost Sub-Inspector Nazimuddin and hospital sources said. Two passengers died on the spot while two others succumbed to their injuries at different hospitals. Among the dead, three could be identified. They are Sarwar Uddin, 22, and Salah Uddin, 32, of Pekua Upazila of Cox’s Bazar, and ‘Farzana’, 4, of Ali Kadam Upazila under Bandarban district. Salah Uddin and Farzana died after they were rushed to Chokoria Health Complex and the CMCH. The injured microbus and bus passengers are being treated at the CMCH, hospital sources said, according to a news agency.
