CHT peace treaty to be fully implemented

Prime Minister’s International Affairs adviser Gowher Rizvi said Tuesday the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Peace Accord will fully be implemented by this year.
He said this while addressing a seminar titled ‘Realisation of Indigenous People’s Rights and Ratification of ILO Convention at Cirdap auditorium in the city Tuesday, according o a news agency.
The seminar was jointly organised by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and Bangladesh Indigenous Peoples Forum (BIPF) with NHRC chairman Dr Mizanur Rahman in the chair. BIPF general secretary Sanjeeb Drong presented the keynote paper.
“There’s nothing to be frustrated. The Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Accord will be implemented this year,” he said.
The government signed the CHT Peace Accord with Parbatiya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samiti (PCJSS) in 1997.
