Chuadanga bus strike called off

The bus strike, enforced by Chuadanga Bus-Truck Workers’ Union, protesting vandalism of some vehicles by ‘easy-bike’ drivers in the district town was called off on Saturday. The strike was withdrawn following a meeting held with the local administration on Friday night. President of Chuadanga Bus Truck Workers Union M Islam and its general secretary Nasir Joardar made the announcement of the withdrawal of the strike following assurance from the local administration to meet their 3-point-demand. Mohammad Salauddin, president of the District Bus Minibus Owners Association, said the local administration has assured of fulfilling their 3-point demand, including ensuring security of the bus workers. The route for movement of easy-bikes (a battery-run vehicle) has also been demarcated, he said, according to UNB.
