Chuadanga diarrhoea ‘alarming’

The diarrhoea outbreak in Chuadanga has assumed alarming proportions over the past four days with more than 500 patients being admitted to the District Sadar Hospital till Monday afternoon. Residents of Masjidpara, Majherpara, Baganpara, Djintalapara and Islampara said they have been suffering from diarrhoea since they drank water supplied by the municipal corporation on last Friday night. They said the water tasted different and even had a foul odour. Resident medical officer of the Chuadanga Sadar Hospital Masud Rana said, "The hospital has only 100 beds. The authorities are facing an acute problem in taking care of 700 patients, of whom 500 are suffering from diarrhoea, according to a news agency.
